Patrick Young

Dr. Patrick E. Young currently serves as the Director of Bands and Assistant Professor of Low Brass at Idaho State University. 

He received a Bachelor of Music Education degree at Young Harris College (Georgia), a Master of Music Performance in Tuba from the University of Georgia, and completed his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Music Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado Boulder. In addition to his duties at ISU, Dr. Young also serves as the principal tubist of Opera Colorado, a renowned opera company located in the heart of Denver, CO and is the principal tubist in the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra (TFO) in Branson, Missouri during the summers.

His primary tuba instructors include Professor Mike Dunn (CU Boulder), Professor David Zerkel (UGA/University of Michigan), Dr. David McLemore (Central Washington University), and Simon Wildman (President’s Own Marine Band). Dr. Young is a member of the International Tuba Euphonium Association (ITEA) and is a Performing Artist and Clinician for Melton Meinl Weston and B&S instruments.
